My movement classes focus on the Sensation of the Joy of Movement. I love the NIA technique and the freedom it brings to the human form. The music, the movement all come into one magical aerobic movement experience. I leave class every time sensing that I have fulfilled the desire to create health, fitness and JOY in my whole being!

The Body's Way

The Body's Way
Anita Stark steps in to every Nia class with purpose and presence to encourage members to transcend fitness. As a body and life movement artist her purpose is to create happy and healthy bodies, minds, emotions, and spirits. Simply, when a body is happy it is healthy, and when a body is stressed it is unhappy. For 28 years, she has created community in fitness classes where members can be authentic, safe and take risks with movement. With Fantastic music, members who practice Nia come away feeling emotionally uplifted, centered and fit.
In 1987, NIA revolutionized my career as a fitness professional. My goal in every NIA class is to interweave functional movement technique, intention, joy and community all for the benefit of the body, mind and soul. All classes are designed within the NIA program philosophy to enhance your potential to live a healthy and meaningful life by engaging in your senses and listening to your body. I understand chronic pain and dysfunctional movement in the body. At the age of eleven, I suffered temendous pain from an an S-curve Scoliosis. I was asked to wear a brace for 7 years, however, I declined. This began a pathway of moving to heal my body and avoding surgical fusion of my spine. I am grateful as a NIA licensed professional for 30 years, that I understand the importance of supporting sustainable movement in the body. Each NIA workout brings mindfulness to your dance movement experience leaving you energized, mentally clear, and emotionally balanced. See you on the dance floor.

I created this blog to reach you ~ whether you are dancing with me or not. I want to help you create a balanced life through Movement and Health. For 30 years, I have been helping clients find their body's way through practical education of the movement through their body. Trained as a 1st Degree Black Belt in the Nia Technique, Yoga, Soul Motion and Covert Bailey's Fit or Fat program, I have successfully developed a program to engage the connection of the body and mind. Through this connection you can change behaviors in your body around fitness, alignment, strength, ability and dietary health. Your exercise and deitary principles become a lifestyle or as I like to say "your practice".
